Victor Lawson, a human, lives there too. They’re a family, hidden and safe. The day Vic salvages and repairs an unfamiliar android labelled ‘HAP’, he learns of a shared dark past between Hap and Gio – a past spent hunting humans. When Hap unwittingly alerts robots from Gio’s former life to their whereabouts, the family is no longer hidden and safe. Gio is captured and taken back to his old laboratory in the City of Electric Dreams. So together, the rest of Vic’s assembled family must journey across an unforgiving and otherworldly country to rescue Gio from decommission, or worse, reprogramming.Along the way to save Gio, amid conflicted feelings of betrayal and affection for Hap, Vic must decide for himself: can he accept love with strings attached?Inspired by Carlo Collodi’s The Adventures of Pinocchio, In the Lives of Puppets is a masterful standalone fantasy adventure from the author who brought you The House in the Cerulean Sea and Under the Whispering Door.

I loved it. It is like being wrapped up in a big gay blanket. Simply perfect, The House in the Cerulean Sea is a modern fairy tale about learning your true nature and what you love and will protect. It’s a beautiful book, Under the Whispering Door is a kind book, full of faith in the goodness of people . . . It broke my heart with its unflinching understanding that grief never goes away, never empties, only settles into the room of your soul like a strange souvenir. And then it healed me in the next breath, A whimsical, warm-hearted fantasy that suggests it is never too late to make a positive change in life – or afterwards
TJ Klune is the New York Times and USA Today bestselling, Lambda Literary Award-winning author of Under the Whispering Door, The House in the Cerulean Sea, The Extraordinaries, Wolfsong and more. Being queer himself, TJ believes it’s important – now more than ever – to have accurate, positive, queer representation in stories.

Fascinating door into a new world of communication possibilities
The author uses her experience as a speech therapist and decides to try using programmable buttons, each recording a single word, which her dog Stella can press in order to express herself. Driven by the awareness that Stella was displaying many characteristics typical of young children who are learning to communicate, Christina Hunger learned to communicate with Stella, obtaining groundbreaking insight into the ability of dogs to communicate. Stella was able to learn single words that expressed her desires - for "water" or "outside" and then progressed to more advanced communication, using combinations of buttons and expressing herself in more complex ways, such as sharing her feelings. An incredible book that is a reflection of dogs' intelligence and a glimpse into their thoughts as well as research that has significance for human speech therapy practice. A must-read.
Brilliant book as a supplementary resource for teachers and students. It provides clear explanations, step-by-step worked examples, and practice exercises that align with the South African CAPS curriculum. It is great for self-learning and very helpful for homeschooling or additional practice. Theory is explained in an easy way. It shows students step-by-step how to solve problems. The book covers all relevant areas important for Grade 10. It may lack some higher level challenging Questions, especially if a student is aiming for very high marks. Then some additional past papers and higher-level problems might be needed.
