He is a founding editor of the journal English Language andLinguistics.Jill Bowie is an Honorary Research Fellow at the Survey of English Usage, University College London, where she previously worked on the AHRC-funded projects 'The changing verb phrase in present-day British English' and 'Teaching English grammar in schools'. Her research interests include recent change in English and the grammar of spoken discourse. She has co-authored papers with Survey colleagues on clause fragments and on changes in the English verb phraseGergana Popova is Lecturer in Linguistics at Goldsmiths, University of London.
