Studying God

Studying God: Doing Theology provides a general introductory text for theological study. It begins by focusing on the reader's own ways of experiencing and talking about God, before exploring the variety of theological voices associated with the Church and the academy, and the ways in which the texts and teachings of the Christian faith interact with our own theology. Jeff Astley's project is to break down the barrier he sees between "academic theology" and "the rest of the Church". 'Studying God: Doing Theology' is a primer in theological sources and methods, and significant (Western) theological voices, An important view beyond pastoral theology, which is too often aimed solely at church leaders in pastoral ministry.

Jeff Astley is the former Director of the North East Institute of Christian Education and author of several books introducing theology to a wider readership.
