This book gives information about theory, concepts, practices, and mechanisms of environmental health and toxicology. It discusses ecological processes, climate and natural biogeochemical cycles, food chains, and agro-ecologies to provide a foundational understanding of environmental toxicity including consequences of contaminants on environmental systems. The impact of human activity on terrestrial, aquatic, and marine habitats, as well as the idea of bioindication and biomonitoring as management and monitoring strategies in these environments is also examined.FeaturesIntroduces environmental toxicology and chemistry in the terrestrial ecosystemDiscusses the importance of bioindicators and biomonitors in the aquatic environment Examines the global energy dilemma and its impact on climate changeExplores influence of environmental pollutants as endocrine-disrupting chemicalsExamines occupational health and safety organizations as stakeholders in maintaining environmental sustainabilityThis book is aimed at researchers and graduate students in environmental science and engineering.
