Mike Cracknell was born in 1944 in Leiston, Suffolk.  After living there for ten years, he has spent the majority of his life in Preston, Lancashire.  He attended Preston Grammar School for seven years between the years 1955-1962 and moved on to spend his working life in the rubber industry.  He retired at the age of fifty eight and went on to join many poetry societies.  His love of poetry grew from his time in Liverpool where he was given advice on how to write his own poetry.  HE also spent time on the radio interviewing people for about ten years.  Throughout his life he has written many poems as well as plays, all of which have been performed in various places and competitions.
