In addition to scripting of The Rise & Fall of the Trigan Empire after Mike Butterworth’s departure, Ken Roscoe was also the editor of Speed & Power. Before taking over the reins of Trigan Empire, Gerry Wood painted numerous covers for Battle Picture Library and Speed & Power. His first painted comics strip was A Leap into the Future for World of Wonder. He would paint Trigan Empire until its initial run finished in the early 1980s, and afterwards he would provide illustration work for many educational books.
