This book presents the proceedings of the 8th EAI International Conference on Robotics and Networks 2024 (EAI ROSENET 2024). The conference explores the integration of networks, communications, and robotic technologies, which has become a topic of increasing interest for both researchers and developers from academic fields and industries worldwide. The authors posit that big networks will be the main approach to the next generation of robotic research, with the explosive number of communications and networks models and increasing computational power of computers significantly extending the number of potential applications for robotic technologies while also bringing new challenges to the communications and networking community. The conference provided a platform for researchers to share up-to-date scientific achievements in this field.

Behçet Uğur Töreyin received the B.S. degree from the Middle East Technical University, Ankara, Turkiye, in 2001, and the M.S. and Ph.D. degrees from Bilkent University, Ankara, in 2003 and 2009, respectively, all in electrical and electronics engineering. He is currently a Full professor with the Informatics Institute, Istanbul Technical University. His research focuses on signal processing and pattern recognition, particularly in applications related to image analysis and computational intelligence. He is also dedicated to developing algorithms for analyzing and compressing signals from a variety of sensors, including visible, infrared, and hyperspectral cameras, microphones, passive infrared sensors, vibration sensors, and spectrum sensors used in wireless communications. Hatice Köse (Senior Member, IEEE) received the Ph.D. degree from the Computer Engineering Department, Bogaziçi University, Turkey. She has been a Full Professor with the Department of AI and Data Engineering, Faculty of Computer and Informatics Engineering, Istanbul Technical University, Turkey, coordinating the Game Laboratory and Cognitive Social Robotics Laboratory, since 2010. From 2006 to 2010, she was a Research Fellow with the University of Hertfordshire. Her current research interests include gesture communication (involving sign language) and imitation-based interaction games with social humanoid robots for the education and rehabilitation of children with hearing impairment and children with ASD. She is leading several national projects and taking part in several Horizon2020 projects, Erasmus+ and Cost actions, on social assistive robots, sign language tutoring robots, and human-robot interaction. Prof. Nizamettin Aydin (Senior Member, IEEE) received B.Sc. (1984) and M.Sc. (1987) degrees in Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering at Yildiz Technical University, Turkiye, and Ph.D. degree in Medical Physics (1994) at the University of Leicester, UK. He worked in the Department of Clinical Neuroscionces at Kings College London and the Division of Clinical Neuroscience at St George's Hospital Medical School as a Research Fellow between 1998 and 2001. He was a Senior Research Fellow in the Institute for Integrated Micro and Nano Systems at the University of Edinburgh from 2001 to 2004. In 2004, he was appointed as head of Computer Engineering Department and in 2006 he founded Software Engineering Department, both at Bahcesehir University, Turkiye. Between 2009 and 2023, he was professor in Computer Engineering Department at Yildiz Technical University and served as the head of the department between 2011 and 2023. He is now with the Computer Engineering Department at Istanbul Technical University. His research interests and contributions cover a wide range of subkects including biomedical signal/image processing, bioinformatics, system-on-chip, AI, data science, and computer science.
