Una ballena jorobada viaja desde la Antártida hasta las costas del Pacífico colombiano para dar a luz a su cría, pero es amenazada por un barco cazador de ballenas que navega por la zona y ha logrado escapar de las autoridades. Al mismo tiempo, Simón, Juana, Isabel y Lucas, acompañados por la tía Abigaíl, llegan a la isla Gorgona para embarcarse en un submarino en compañía de un famoso científico que estudia el corazón de las ballenas. Poco se imaginan los chicos lo que les espera a bordo y los peligros a los que tendrán que enfrentarse para escapar de la persecución de los balleneros piratas que quieren atrapar a su presa a toda costa. A humpback whale travels from Antarctica to the coasts of the Colombian Pacific to give birth to its calf, but is threatened by a whale hunting ship that is sailing through the area and has managed to escape from the authorities. At the same time, Simón, Juana, Isabel and Lucas, accompanied by Aunt Abigaíl, arrive at Gorgona Island to embark on a submarine in the company of a famous scientist who studies the hearts of whales. Little do the boys imagine what awaits them on board and the dangers they will have to face to escape the persecution of the pirate whalers who want to catch their prey at any cost.

Su trabajo aparece en Muy Interesante, El Tiempo, Scientific American, WIRED, Nature, Astronomy, National Geographic y National Public Radio. Es becaria del Knight Fellowship in Science Journalism en el Instituto Tecnológico de Massachusetts. Ha participado en seis expediciones antárticas con los programas polares de Estados Unidos y Colombia. Es ganadora del Premio Simón Bolívar de Periodismo 2017.
