This back-to-back editorial collaboration between the artistic duo of Toiletpaper and Ellen von Unwerth brings together two unmistakable visual languages in a bold exchange of images created for the ToiletEllen PapervonUnwerth Calendar 2027. The calendar presents Toiletpaper’s hyper-saturated, surreal tableaux in dialogue with von Unwerth’s sensual, ironic, and high-gloss femininity. Playful, provocative, and unapologetically excessive, the project transforms the calendar format into a collectible object—where pop aesthetics, seduction, and subversive humor collide month after month.

Toiletpaper, set up by Maurizio Cattelan and Pierpaolo Ferrari in 2010, is one of a kind. Each picture twists visual conventions by combining fashion and advertising with surreal imagery to arresting, troubling effect. Toiletpaper’s accessible magazine form and wide distribution challenge the constraints of the contemporary art market at the same time as the magazine offers a bold critique of our obsession with the image. Ellen von Unwerth is a fashion and portrait photographer renowned for her bold, sensual, and playful imagery. After working for nearly a decade as a model, she transitioned behind the camera in the late 1980s, bringing a unique insider’s perspective to her subjects. Her work is characterized by a dynamic, cinematic style that celebrates confident, empowered femininity, often infused with humor and a distinct rétro aesthetic. Known for her striking black-and-white photography, von Unwerth has shot for leading international fashion magazines and major luxury brands, and has published numerous photography books showcasing her iconic visual language.
