Ferrari Book
Success is not founded on miracles, but is almost always the product of a clear concept — the pinnacle of an ambitious, even stridently innovative idea. However, the aura of Ferrari does indeed approach the miraculous. What lies behind this phenomenon? What is the source of fascination for a brand whose creative designs are internationally recognised and enthusiastically received?First, even today — 70 years after the company was founded — the miracle of Ferrari is still due in large part to the personality of Il Commendatore, Enzo Ferrari. Patience, passion, and being hard on himself and those around him gave the brand, under the emblem of the Cavallino Rampante, the power to become what it is today: sheer fascination on four wheels. Second, the long list of international racing victories is equally important. There is no class, no competition, that Ferrari did not set its sights on and win more or less immediately during the company’s last 70 years. Finally, Ferrari is synonymous with aesthetics, elegance, and trend-setting design. The true value of a brand and its products is measured in the currency of impassioned devotion. This is the third and perhaps most vital element confirming the Ferrari miracle: The Ferrari Book – Passion for Design traces the evolution of the miracle and lets us experience passion given automotive form in a large and engrossing format.Text in English, German, French and Italian.

Ferrari
Ferrari have the distinction of being the only manufacturer to have competed throughout the history of Formula 1. The company’s early Formula 1 and Formula 2 cars first appeared at the Italian Grand Prix in September 1948. It was these cars, particularly in 1950 and 1951, that really brought the name Ferrari to the attention of the general public by competing at the very pinnacle of motor racing, the Formula 1 World Championship. During the Second World War, Enzo Ferrari had a factory in Maranello making grinding machines, but he had a burning ambition – to dominate international motor racing. Within two years, his workforce had produced the company’s first sports car and in 1948 Ferrari presented his first single-seater F1 cars to the world. By 1951, his new 4.5-litre F1 cars were beating his old nemesis, Alfa Romeo, on their way to winning the World Championship in 1952 and 1953.John Starkey tells the story of those early years as Ferrari struggled to overcome many obstacles to win the new World Championship. Featuring rare archive photographs, this is an indispensable guide to Ferrari’s first racing cars and the emergence of motor racing as an elite sports phenomenon.

Astrophysical Jets
Attilio Ferrari I want to recall here the basic points I raised at the beginning of the Workshop as the main targets of discussion (in the name of the Scientific Committee). I attempted to focus the attention of participants on the fact that, in many instances, we tend to discuss jets in terms of simple physics, more or less as one did at the time extragalactic radio sources were discovered: for instance, we still use equipartition arguments. However, we must realize that processes in jets, leading to their morphologies and energetics clearly depend on complex plasma phenomena. Therefore, the same standard arguments used to derive characteristic parameters should be questioned; some of the speakers were invited to attempt a critical analysis of this point, an~ in fact I believe that this "inquisitive attitude" was actually present all along the Workshop. Observers were asked to choose the parameters to be used in a statistical sample of jets. For this they were urged, first of all, to distinguish between primary and secondary features. For instance, are knots and wiggles common to all jets? Are relativistic flow velocities expected in all active nuclei? Are jets denser or lighter than the external medium? On the theoretical side I asked to discuss whether or not existing models are in accordance with the limited statistical sample that we have today. And which should be the lines of development to be pursued first, and to what extent.

Ford versus Ferrari
What happened when America's richest car company, producing many thousands of cars per year, went head to head with Ferrari of Italy in the mid `60s? This is the story of an immovable force coming up against the stubbornness of an unmovable object - that is, Ford against Ferrari. Enzo Ferrari, whose company produced less than four hundred cars per year in 1963, wasn't going to bow to Ford after he had turned down its offer to buy his company. The only place left to duke it out was on the racetracks of the world ... and one in particular: Le Mans.

Ferrari 360
Produced between 1999 and 2004 in Modena coupé, Spider convertible and Challenge Stradale form, the Ferrari 360 marked a turning point for the brand. With its aluminium-spaceframe chassis and curvaceous new styling, it set the blueprint for two decades of Ferrari design and engineering.Offering improved ergonomics and everyday usability without sacrificing performance, the 360 remains one of the most accessible and desirable Ferraris, praised for its balance of practicality, power, and presence. Launched in 1999 with the elegant 360 Modena coupé, the Ferrari 360 marked a bold new chapter in Maranello’s history. It was soon joined by the convertible 360 Spider and the lightweight, track-focused Challenge Stradale – each a masterclass in performance and design. In true Ferrari fashion, competition versions of the 360 were also produced, both for the exclusive Ferrari Challenge series and for top-level national and international GT racing. Although the 360 followed a proud tradition of mid-engined, V8-powered, two-seat Ferraris, its all-aluminium chassis and curvaceous Pininfarina styling signalled a shift toward the future – one that combined breathtaking performance with an accessible driving experience. By the end of production in 2004, over 17,000 had been built – the highest production volume for any Ferrari up to that point. More than just a performance icon, the 360 introduced a new ethos: to offer Ferraris that were more accessible to a wider range of customers, with improved interior space, ergonomics and drivability. Today, it has become a favourite among both first-time Ferrari buyers and seasoned collectors, known for its relative affordability, stunning performance, reliability and distinctive character.
