King Arthur's Last Command
This is a photographic representation of Tennyson's famous poem, 'Morte d'Arthur. There are approximately eighty images portraying the last command of King Arthur, who instructs his last remaining knight, Sir Bedivere, to return Excalibur to the lady of the lake. During the tale, Sir Bedivere fails twice in his task, afraid to lose Excalibur, but finally succeeds in overcoming his own wishes, and completing his mission. Finally, Sir Bedivere carries his wounded King to a shore line, where they are both met with the enchanting sight of a dusky barge and three Queens to receive the mortally wounded Arthur. You will see vivid images depicting extracts from the poem, climaxing with King Arthur making his final journey to Avalon. The images within the book are dark and powerful, to match the emotion and feelings the poem evokes.

Evesham Inns and Signs
In the 1950s T.J.S. Baylis wrote a series of articles for the Evesham Journal on Evesham inns and signs. He was well suited to the task, being a native of Evesham, a former town councillor, a founder member and former chairman of the Vale of Evesham Historical Society, and one of the founder members of the Almonry Museum. The current book collects together his articles on Evesham inns and signs, supplementing them with appendices and indexes (on local people, places, trades, inns and innkeepers). These articles, the result of years of careful thought and detailed research, are full of humour and local knowledge and a boon to anyone interested in local inns, signs, or the history of the town.

Asum Grammar
In deference to the wishes of innumerable readers and at fantastic trouble and expense, we are able to here present a collection of extracts from that learned work, long in preparation but still unpublished, treating upon the fascinating but difficult subject of 'Asum Grammar.' Ben Judd's articles on this mysterious if not mythical tome were a wonderful, long-running and well-loved mainstay in the pages of the Evesham Journal. They treat eruditely and humorously on the matter of Asum, the 'language' once peculiar to Evesham. The current book collects together selected articles and, on the basis that too much of a good thing can be too much, intersperses them with snippets on local vocabulary (places, flowers, birds and suchlike) together with odd poems and snippets in Asum from the letters page of the Evesham Journal. The whole is illustrated by some lovely drawings by E.H. New (from 1904) of many local scenes and buildings.

Words and Music of Neil Young
Neil Young cannot be simply labeled. He has recorded as a solo artist, as a member of a hard rock trio, and with numerous other musician configurations. He can move from the soft sounds of early 1970s acoustic folk to the distorted, fuzz guitar sound of Crazy Horse. And his compositions have responded to musical trends from punk rock to grunge, and to social issues like racism, the Vietnam War, and the war in Iraq as well. The Words and Music of Neil Young follows the evolution of Young's musical work from the late 1960s to the present, with special focus on the enduring elements that have made his music successful.Individual chapters cover Young's musical output album by album, and song by song—from his debut work with Buffalo Springfield, to his time with Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young, to his solo work within various genres and for various causes (some political, but all artistic). In his conclusion, author Ken Bielen sums up Neil Young's accomplishments and places his work in the context of contemporary culture.bibliographydiscography

Coleridge and the Doctors
What did Coleridge know about medicine and how did it influence the development of his critical thought? Neil Vickers sets out to answer this question in this radical reinterpretation of Coleridge's career between 1795 and 1806. Coleridge and the Doctors changes the way we look at Coleridge's intellectual development and reveals the richness of his involvement in the eighteenth-century tradition of 'philosophical medicine' and its determining influence onhis critical and philosophic stance. The book also contains a revisionary analysis of Coleridge's dealings with opiates and offers a comprehensive account of British early Romantic medicine.

Left Behind
The world-renowned economist offers a ground-breaking new vision for inclusive prosperityLeft behind places can be found in prosperous countries—from South Yorkshire, integral to the industrial revolution and now England’s poorest county, to Barranquilla, once Colombia’s portal to the Caribbean and now struggling. More alarmingly, the poorest countries in the world are diverging further from the rest of humanity than they were at the start of this century. Why have these places fallen behind? And what can we do about it? World-renowned development economist Paul Collier has spent his life working in neglected communities. In this book he offers his candid diagnosis of why some regions and countries are failing, and a new vision for how they can catch up. Collier lays the blame for widening inequality on stale economic orthodoxies that prioritize market forces to revive left behind regions, and on the arrogant, hands-off and one-size fits all approach of centralized bureaucracies like the UK Treasury. As a result, Collier argues, the UK has become the most unequal and unfair society in the western world. Yet the core message of Left Behind is hopeful: bringing together encouraging case studies of recovery from around the world, Collier shows how renewal is achievable through a combination of collective learning, moral leadership and local agency. With keen insight, he draws lessons from such seemingly disparate fields as behavioural psychology, evolutionary biology and moral philosophy to share a bold, galvanizing vision for a more inclusive, prosperous world.

Cycling and the British
Cycling is currently enjoying a boom in popularity. What are the reasons behind this phenomenon? How have perceptions and the popularity of cycling shifted? This book charts the historical development of cycling both as a leisure and sporting activity since the 19th century and explores the wider political and cultural context in which cycling in Britain emerged. In particular, it examines cycling’s relationship with environmental politics and its place in popular culture. Neil Carter successfully traverses several historical sub-disciplines, including the history of transport, leisure, sport, medicine and politics, employing the analytical tools of class, gender, political culture, the role of the state and commercialism to demonstrate how British identity has shaped and been shaped by cycling. At a time when it has become part of debates over transport and health, Cycling and the British: A Modern History provides a timely and clear analysis of the changes and continuities in attitudes towards cycling.

Airstream Country
A herd of bison standing in the snow. Layered bluffs of multicolored sandstone. A silver Airstream trailer on a mountain highway. These are familiar sights for Neil Mathison and his wife, Susan. Newly retired, their son in college, they set off on their own great American road trip "uncoupled from the tyranny of calendars or a specific journey." Airstream Country recounts their travels across the United States as they move from Montana to Malibu and Seattle to Silverton, winding their way through millions of years of geological history with their Airstream in tow. Along the way they encounter upheavals and depositions, ancient seas and young mountains, and stone towers and striated canyons, which are all illuminated by Mathison's knowledgeable commentary. Even after thousands of miles and eons of geology, their adventures are never finished, for, as Mathison writes, "We learn by travel where we ought to travel more."

One Thing
CHRISTIANS SHOULD BE REVOLUTIONARIES! WE SHOULD BE BRINGING A REVOLUTION TO OUR WORLD.Today's world needs a revolution. But not a violent one. We've had plenty of those. We need a revolution that changes hearts and minds. Jesus didn't come to earth just to change your Sunday morning routine. He came to change your life every day and in every way.The Right and Left are growing farther apart each week. Liberal politicians and conservatives are in a moral and political take-no-prisoners civil war. And the expanding divide is evident, not just in politics, but also in the arts, education, business, journalism, science, technology, social services, the military, and even in the faith community.Today's emerging generation is fed up with an unengaged, judgmental Christianity that is afraid to get its hands dirty with real change but is more than willing to shout at the decaying world from a distance. We simply must take a different stance in this world if we want to make a difference . . . and now is the time. But what is that stance? And how do we revolutionize our world as Christians? As author Neil Cole dramatically points out, it's all about One Thing. It's a revolution of love! Grounded in the love found in the new covenant, this book passionately calls the church back to its true spiritual roots and provides tangible examples of how that was done in the past and how we can do it today. One Thing offers an alternative that is biblical, effective, subversive, and loving all at the same time. It's time for us to trade in our busy religion with so many rules for a one-thing spirituality. That one thing is the love generated by being with Jesus, focused upon Jesus, and letting Jesus leak out in our lives. Jesus was all about transformation and change. He was a revolutionary of the heart, and as his followers, we must bring that radical revolution to our world.¡VIVA LA REVOLUTIÓN!

Grab 'n' Go Astronomy
Like everyone else, most amateur astronomers live busy lives. After a long day or work or looking after young children, the last thing you want as an observer is to have to lug out a large telescope and spend an hour getting it ready before it can be used. Maybe you are going on vacation somewhere in the countryside where there are sure to be dark skies, but you don’t necessarily want astronomy to dominate the trip. Or suppose you are not quite committed to owning a large telescope, but curious enough to see what a smaller, portable setup can accomplish. These are times when a small “grab ’n’ go” telescope, or even a pair of binoculars, is the ideal instrument. And this book can guide you in choosing and best utilizing that equipment. What makes a telescope fall into the “grab ’n’ go” category? That’s easy – speed of setting up, ease of use, and above all, portability. In Part I of this book, we survey the various types of equipment, including accessories and mounts, that are available, and what it is best for what kind of viewing.Part II is about using your grab ’n’ go telescope to visit a wealth and wide variety of objects. There are chapters on solar, lunar and planetary observing, as well as descriptions of many deep sky objects, including double and variable stars, planetary, emission and reflection nebulae, open and globular clusters and distant galaxies. This ambitious text is dedicated to those who love to or – because of their limited time – must observe the sky at a moment’s notice, whether from the comfort of a backyard or while on business or vacation far from home. Everything you need to know is here. So get started!.
