Ralph Lauren Catwalk
The first comprehensive overview of Ralph Lauren’s womenswear collections, from their 1972 debut to today, presented through original catwalk photography. Ralph Lauren debuted his first women's runway collection for Fall 1972 with a show that made his mark instantly, highlighting his exquisite tailoring and uncanny ability to mix opposites elegantly. Taking inspiration from New England’s rusticity, the West’s natural beauty and Hollywood’s glamour, Lauren's designs are a gold-standard for timeless American style with panache. This book celebrates more than 50 years of Lauren's creations, which have garnered many awards, made him a much-loved global brand and influenced the way women dress all over the world. Ralph Lauren famously launched his menswear business in 1967 with an audacious tie collection, taken up by Bloomingdale’s, from which his Polo brand quickly developed. This became, and has remained ever since, a benchmark for polished tailoring with rugged utility. With his dual collections of 1972, Lauren began his rise in the world of women’s fashion; fourteen years later he opened his first Paris store on Place de la Madeleine, an affirmation of his ranking with the world’s most famed couturiers. His consistent desire to create ‘a way of dressing that redefines the meaning of timelessness’ has made his label a by-word for luxury and class – as one critic said, Ralph Lauren ‘made it possible to use the words slinky and tweed in the same sentence without risking ridicule’. Complete with an introduction, designer biography and collection texts by Bridget Foley, this book offers a unique opportunity to explore the work of a great American couturier and creator of one of the world’s most celebrated fashion houses.

Cinema of Raúl Ruiz
Raul Ruiz, while considered one of the world's most significant filmmakers by several film critics, is yet to be the subject of any thorough engagement with his work in English. This volume sets out on this task by mapping, as fully as possible, Ruiz's cinematic trajectory across more than five decades of prolific work, up to his death in 2011; ranging from his earliest work in Chile to high-budget 'European' costume dramas culminating in Mysteries of Lisbon (2010). It does so by treating Ruiz's work-with its surrealist, magic realist, popular cultural, and neo-Baroque sources-as a type of 'impossible' cinematic cartography, mapping real, imaginary, and virtual spaces, and crossing between different cultural contexts, aesthetic strategies, and technical media. It argues that across the different phases of Ruiz's work identified, there are key continuities such as the invention of singular cinematic images and the interrogation of their possible and impossible combinations.

Letters from Ralph
Ralph J. Mouw, a native of Orange City, Iowa, never forgot his roots - even when he was halfway across the world during World War II. In this collection of letters, you'll find a firsthand account of what life was like during the war at home and overseas. Although letters were heavily censored during the war years, the editors have added comments to place them in context. The letters are amazing for many reasons, including how calm and composed Ralph always sounded even when fighting was fierce. As a captain of a field artillery unit, he was in constant combat status from Utah Beach in Normandy to the Greater Reich. You'll be thrilled with this primary account from a soldier who participated in numerous firsts: Ralph was a member of the first American heavy artillery unit to come ashore in Normandy, and his unit was the first to fire during critical battles. Despite the bloodshed, faith and love shine through the turmoil in Letters from Ralph.

Creating Responsible and Inclusive Fashion Brand Narratives
This book introduces the theories and frameworks necessary to drive meaningful social change in fashion brand communication, illustrating their applications with examples of brands that prioritize social justice, decolonization, and environmental sustainability in their practices and communication strategies.Drawing on social, consumer, and cultural theories—such as Indigenous dress theory, circularity, fat liberation, and social reproduction—this book encourages students to think critically about brand communication in ways that are relevant, impactful, and aimed at transforming discourse and ideologies, rather than focusing solely on products.Through case studies ranging from Polo Ralph Lauren’s collaboration with Indigenous weaver Naiomi Glasses to material regeneration at Veja, the authors demonstrate how these narratives can be applied in practice while raising ethical questions about transparency and authenticity in fashion brand messaging. Readers will not only gain an understanding of why more inclusive and equitable brand narratives are essential but also develop the knowledge and critical thinking skills needed to analyze, interpret, and contribute to the ongoing transformation of fashion brand storytelling.Creating Responsible and Inclusive Brand Narratives will be of interest to advanced students of Fashion Communication, Marketing and Brand Management.

Jose Raul Capablanca
This is the most complete and thorough biography of Jose Raul Capablanca, one of the greatest players in the history of chess. Beginning with his family background, birth, childhood and introduction to the game in Cuba, it examines his life and play as a young man; follows his evolution as a player and rise to prominence, first as challenger and then world champion; his loss of the title to Alekhine and his efforts to recapture the championship in the last years of his too-short life. What emerges is a portrait of a complex man with far-ranging interests and concerns, in stark contrast to his robotic reputation as "the chess machine."Meticulously researched, utilizing many sources available only in Capablanca's home country, it puts truth to legend regarding a man who stood astride the chess world in of its most dynamic and dramatic eras. raúlrsalinas and the Jail Machine
Raúl Salinas is regarded as one of today's most important Chicano poets and human rights activists, but his passage to this place of distinction took him through four of the most brutal prisons in the country. His singular journey from individual alienation to rage to political resistance reflected the social movements occurring inside and outside of prison, making his story both personal and universal. This groundbreaking collection of Salinas' journalism and personal correspondence from his years of incarceration and following his release provides a unique perspective into his spiritual, intellectual, and political metamorphosis. The book also offers an insider's view of the prison rebellion movement and its relation to the civil rights and anti-war movements of the 1960s and 1970s. The numerous letters between Salinas and his family, friends, and potential allies illustrate his burgeoning political awareness of the cause and conditions of his and his comrades' incarceration and their link to the larger political and historical web of social relations between dominant and subaltern groups. These collected pieces, as well as two interviews with Salinas—one conducted upon his release from prison in 1972, the second more than two decades later—reveal to readers the transformation of Salinas from a street hipster to a man seeking to be a part of something larger than himself. Louis Mendoza has painstakingly compiled a body of work that is autobiographical, politically insurgent, and representative.
