Seascape
This moving, lyrical play takes place during the summer of 1940 and is set against the dramatic wartime backdrop of the internment camp at Port Erin on the Isle of Man. Two romances develop: one between a young German internee and a young English girl stranded on the isle; the other between a woman of Italian descent and a German Jew. The play raises issues about a little-recorded part of British domestic history in which the characters are sustained by their hopes and dreams which we, the audience, finally realize will not be fulfilled. Played mostly in duologues and soliloquies this fifty-minute play is an ideal festival choice.

Lovers
Three people have come to visit the grave of Michael, who has died of a heart attack in his early 40s. There's Maureen, his wife of nearly 20 years, whom he helped through a breakdown that followed the death of their infant son. There's Anna, his lover, with whom he secretly lived while working in London during the week. And there's Bob, a friend and father-figure to Michael, who tends the graveyard and harbours his own deep feelings of grief. All three loved Michael; all three have reason to mourn, but the secrets that exist between them impede the comfort they might otherwise draw from each other. This one-act play for two women and one man reflects poignantly on love, loss, and beginning again.

Robust City
Cities expand, upwards and outwards, and their physical structure can last a very long time, not just tens but hundreds of years. Nevertheless, they are rarely designed for expansion. Their layout does not allow for extension or for the retrofitting of infrastructure and can constrain, and often prevent, the growth and change of activities within them - cities are not 'robust' in their design. In other words, change is not planned for but involves costly reconstruction. The Robust City argues that a robust, expandable and sustainable urban form can be deduced from planning goals. Development should not just follow public transport corridors but should not be allowed beyond walking distance from them. This would create 'green enclaves' that would permit not only recreational access but also the retrofitting of infrastructure and the efficient circulation of motor vehicles. The same principles could also be applied within neighbourhoods and to facilitate the rational handling of urban intensification.

Tony Scott
Tony Scott was a thrill seeker who lived and loved life to the fullest... He was also one of the more cutting edge filmmakers of an entire generation. From the grey, industrial skies of Northern England, Tony followed in his brother, Ridley’s, filmmaking footsteps, joining him at a lucrative commercial directing company. His filmmaking journey was an uphill battle, and he stumbled out of the gate while his peers found instant success. And then, he directed Top Gun, and changed the trajectory not only for his life and career, but for the action-movie industry as a whole. The rest of his career was a rollercoaster of blockbuster hits, personal films, and confounding failures, as Scott carved up action cinema for more than two decades with his own brand of violence and a flair for the dramatic. Then, in August of 2012, Tony Scott was gone. His death sent shockwaves across the industry, and left a hole in genre filmmaking that has yet to be filled. With original interviews from actors, cinematographers, and writers who crossed Tony Scott’s path and extensive research, Scott’s larger-than-life persona is covered in great detail, from the early days of his life and career, to its untimely end.

Lessons from Lockdown
Lessons from Lockdown explores the impact of COVID-19 on our schooling systems, on the young people and families that they serve and on all who work in – and with – our schools, and asks what the long-term ramifications of the pandemic might be for the pedagogy and purpose of formal education. Drawing on the voices of more than a hundred pupils, parents and professionals, it reveals how teachers and learners are adapting practice in areas such as curriculum modelling, parental engagement, assessment and evaluation and blended and online learning. In this timely new book, Tony Breslin draws on his experience as a teacher, researcher, examiner, school governor and policy influencer to assess what the educational legacy of COVID-19 could be, and the potential that it offers for reframing how we ‘do’ schooling. Whatever your place in this landscape, Lessons from Lockdown is a must-read for all concerned about the shape and purpose of schooling systems in mature economies – schooling systems and economies set on recovering from the kind of ‘system shock’ that the pandemic has delivered.

Tony Allan
This book follows Tony Allan’s journey through the maze of water management and global awareness of the risks of mismanagement, tracing the trajectory of the hydraulic mission from a time of infinite possibilities—fiat panis and piped water—to risk aversion, loss of confidence and political will, and post-water societies.Part I, spanning fifteen chapters, explores Tony Allan’s formative years at SOAS, his groundbreaking work in remote sensing, and his Middle Eastern studies. It examines his influential contributions to understanding the political economy of water, the concept of virtual water, and the intricacies of transboundary water disputes. It highlights the expanding influence of the private sector and showcases Tony Allan's transdisciplinary collaboration with diverse stakeholders, from institutions to communities. The narrative follows his strategic pivot from conventional water issues to food systems—the primary water consumer—culminating in the comprehensive Oxford Handbook of Water Food and Society.Through sixteen detailed chapters, this book examines the mixed legacy of privatization and the complex politics of the water-energy-food nexus. It tackles contentious issues of sustainability and governance, ultimately advocating the rebalancing of power dynamics within food systems and broader society. This book offers critical insights for scholars, policymakers, and practitioners in the fields of water management, agriculture, and the environment.
