When naming my little girl, the thought crossed my mind on whether her name would be easy to pronounce. As I shared her name with others, I constantly received feedback for those who did not speak the language that it was a name that was "not easy on the tongue." However, the name embodied her existence as a miracle and is testament to God's faithfulness (1 Corinthians 1:9). I thus remained resolute in naming her Gontlafetse (A beautiful situation has occurred), Arikoishe (There is a God!). She goes by Gontla or Ari for short.
My words fail me in thanking Amonge Sinxoto for writing a book that acknowledges the experiences of many of us who have unique and meaningful names. She articulated that experience in a manner that all of us who bare such names can be proud of. I've shared this book with my siblings, nieces and nephews, as the messaging resonates with individuals of all age groups. This is my 2nd purchase of the book as it has become a baby shower, standard gift package of mine, for all the babies with BIG names :)
