The Divergent Series is a trilogy of young adult science fiction novels by Veronica Roth. The books are set in a post-apocalyptic dystopian Chicago where society is divided into five factions. Each faction is comprised of members with different social and personality traits that removes anyone exercising independent will. The series follows main character Beatrice Prior as she figures out her life as a Divergent and uncovers secrets that threaten the balance of the faction system.
