Compelling and vivid ... this memorable chronicle never loses sight of the terrible pointlessness of the conflict., The Adventures in Time series offers accessible retellings of key moments in history for a younger audience (and, no doubt, older readers too). This instalment distils the complexities of World War I into a succinct, vivid account, which never loses sight of either the heroism or the horrors., Few plots can rival the real-life dramas played out in the superb Adventures in Time series by the historian Dominic Sandbrook, one of the most exciting new voices in children's non-fiction., History and fiction meld in a spectacular new series retelling thrilling tales from past eras, all with the benefit of the latest research., For lovers of non-fiction, Dominic Sandbrook's narrative series has been a boon ... This volume is inevitably moving, and an illuminating chronicle of the waste of war.

Dominic Sandbrook has been passionate about history ever since he read the Ladybird children's books. As a historian, he has written eight books for adults. He has also presented several BBC television series, covering topics such as time travel, alien invasions, the James Bond films and the Harry Potter stories. His favourite book is The Lord of the Rings. His favourite football team is Wolverhampton Wanderers. He lives in Oxfordshire with his wife and son, Arthur. It was Arthur who came up with the idea for Adventures in Time, after a family trip to the Imperial War Museum. He now serves as the books' chief battle consultant.

A very practical approach and the tools to go along with it

Very useful. The book provides a structure and an approach that I would have been useful earlier in my investing. I like the five gates and in particular the attention to quality and management's capital allocation decisions. I will also apply the idea of the stewardship log to get more explicit on my investment theses. This is kind of the practical aspect of what I learned from the Psychology of Money.

the title ties in really nicley the more towards the end but the title for the book suits it real...

the book is very slow burn and takes a while for like captivating parts of the book .but the middle to the end the pace of the book is really nice the beginning is just repetitive and and trust the processes
