'Featuring an interactive array of creative and heartfelt elements, 'The Jesus Storybook Bible: A Christmas Collection' is a picture book for children ages 4-8 that not only highlights the significance of the Nativity and reaffirms the spiritual meaning of God's most precious gift, it does what few other Christmas or Advent books do. It shows that even the Old Testament stories pointed to a Rescuer, and it is a complete celebration of the holiday season, which doesn't end on Christmas morning with Jesus's birth. 'The Jesus Storybook Bible: A Christmas Collection' is a great Advent or Christmas gift for the family. This premium interactive picture book helps children young and old understand and celebrate the true meaning of Christmas by showing readers that at the center of every story in Scripture is a baby, the child that everything will depend on. Of special note is a heartfelt letter and reflection from author Sally Lloyd-Jones.' -- Midwest Book Review, 'In introductory notes, author Sally Lloyd-Jones asks, 'When does the story of Christmas begin? Does it begin in Bethlehem? Or with the angel Gabriel visiting Mary? Or with shepherds in the fields watching their flocks? Or with a bright star shining on a little stable?' This collection of stories, songs, and reflections for young children and their families is her answer. Lloyd-Jones frames her Advent and Christmas collection on the first 24 chapters of her renowned storybook Bible, The Jesus Storybook Bible, reiterating its theme--Christmas 'begins in the heart of God' and God had planned from the beginning to send a Great Rescuer to save his lost people.
Perfect for families with young children, each brief Advent reflection shares a portion of Scripture, a short narrative from The Jesus Storybook Bible, and an age-appropriate question or comment for reflection. Throughout the text and on the book's back cover, buttons inviting children to 'press here' activate 20 seconds of Christmas carols or narrations by British actor, David Suchet. Artist Jago's emotive illustrations portray the wonder of God's redemptive plan and his love for his people and the world.' The Banner, December 2020
