Experts in gerontology, clinical psychology, and geriatric medicine provide an analytical survey and abstracts of the significant literature and research dealing with alcoholism and aging over the last 30 years. This research guide offers a general survey with sections dealing separately with the prevalence, precipitants, effects, diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of alcoholism in the older generation. The book also offers directions for future research. The narrative ends with a listing of references that have been assessed. The annotated bibliography gives abstracts for 301 sources that are arranged by types of works: bibliographies, overview articles, books and book chapters, empirical studies, and miscellaneous works. Cross-references and author and subject indexes make this guide readily accessible to students and teachers in the field of sociology, gerontology, psychology, medicine, and public health.

?The bibliography is good starting point for the reacher to get a general survey of this mulitfaceted problem and to become aware of major studies already done on the topic. It will be of value for health porfessionals, social workers, sociologists, and those in public health. the work should be in libraries the serve these populations.?-ARBA, ?The compilers offer an excellent and thorough attempt to identify research that focuses on alcoholism in the elderly. The book has five chapters: literature review, overview of articles, books and book chapters, empirical studies, and miscellaneous works. The book deals with the need for detection, treatment, and prevention of alcoholism in older adults. It is a toss-up as to which part of the book is better--the 50 page literature overview or the annotated lists. Highly recommended for health care providers, ministers, social workers, service agencies, addiction professionals, and students of these disciplines, as well as for friends and families of alcoholics.?-Choice, ?This book will serve as a resource for both clinicians and especially researchers, as it pays special attention to empirical studies. This volume provides a valuable general sampling of annotated bibliographies with the overview chapter being a valuable resource for anyone.?-Source Unknown, "The bibliography is good starting point for the reacher to get a general survey of this mulitfaceted problem and to become aware of major studies already done on the topic.
A very practical approach and the tools to go along with it
Very useful. The book provides a structure and an approach that I would have been useful earlier in my investing. I like the five gates and in particular the attention to quality and management's capital allocation decisions. I will also apply the idea of the stewardship log to get more explicit on my investment theses. This is kind of the practical aspect of what I learned from the Psychology of Money.
the title ties in really nicley the more towards the end but the title for the book suits it real...
the book is very slow burn and takes a while for like captivating parts of the book .but the middle to the end the pace of the book is really nice the beginning is just repetitive and and trust the processes
