Stuff You Don't Learn in Engineering School gives young engineers an easy-to-read "cribsheet" so they can comfortably face the complex professional world of dealing with people, processes, and yes, even meetings! The book covers non-technical "real world" leadership skills like decision-making, setting priorities, negotiating, teamwork, running meetings, and better writing and speaking. Author Carl Selinger-an engineer with more than 25 years of college teaching experience-expands upon his popular seminar of the same name, providing the inspiring guidebook the young engineer needs for a successful career, and a satisfying life.

(Blogcritics.org) "Pragmatic and thorough, this title seems likely to appeal to its target audience." (E-STREAMS, May 2005) "...imparts important skills: setting priorities, working in a team, being more effective at meetings, speaking in front of a group, negotiating personal or business issues, dealing with stress, and having more fun in the process."
A very practical approach and the tools to go along with it
Very useful. The book provides a structure and an approach that I would have been useful earlier in my investing. I like the five gates and in particular the attention to quality and management's capital allocation decisions. I will also apply the idea of the stewardship log to get more explicit on my investment theses. This is kind of the practical aspect of what I learned from the Psychology of Money.
the title ties in really nicley the more towards the end but the title for the book suits it real...
the book is very slow burn and takes a while for like captivating parts of the book .but the middle to the end the pace of the book is really nice the beginning is just repetitive and and trust the processes
