Beide hierdie boek sowel as haar tweede jeugroman, Foto’s en fairy lights (2024), het ATKV Kinderboektoekennings ontvang. Sy woon tans in Klerksdorp saam met haar man, Walter, en hulle hondekinders.As a reader, writer, and editor, An-Mari do Carmo’s entire life revolves around books – and an unhealthy amount of coffee. She is also very fond of animals, feels strongly about her faith, and as a late-diagnosed autistic and ADHD woman, she is somewhat obsessive about neurodiversity. Her debut youth story, Toe als groen was (2022), based on her childhood growing up in a cult, was awarded the Desmond Tutu-Gerrit Brand Prize for debut work. Both this book and her second youth novel, Foto’s en fairy lights (2024), received ATKV Children’s Book Awards. She currently lives in Klerksdorp with her husband, Walter, and their fur children.
