This title has been written to help anyone who is dying. The authors discuss what they and others have found happening in the terminal stages of illness - what the dying person can expect, what others have found important to do - and generally how to respond positively and practically to what one is likely to meet on this unfamiliar and perhaps hard journey. The authors also address those involved in day-to-day care and nursing as well as the professionals. Their aim is to help people deal with the distressing difficulties and challenges, and to enhance the dignity and comfort of all concerned.

(S)hould be required reading for all health professionals Highly recommended., So far as I can tell, this book is the first of its kind and should be in EVERY home. The two authors are experienced hospice volunteers and have had much experience helping the dying and their families. With great sensitivity and practical advice, they detail how to handle every aspect of the dying process, which we all will face with loved ones and for ourselves at some point. The book discusses the what to do when you or your loved one receives word that death is approaching quickly, and how to experience in the best way possible all the intervening stages until the final demise. Emotions, legalities, friends, family, personal getting things in order, denial, and grieving, and acceptance are all discussed with practical and very helpful advice of how to get through each stage are thoroughly covered in this book. I recommend that every home should have this on a bookshelf for when it is needed because at that time no one thinks clearly. EXCELLENT!
