Penney works hard to fill her canvas with colour and conviction, A terrific and beautifully written yarn that will make readers yearn to travel and fall in love in a cold climate, It is a tribute to Penney's superlative descriptive skills that the book's erotic charge is so startlingly effective, and that her icy landscapes cast such a lasting, almost hallucinatory spell. This combination is the true rocket fuel of Under a Pole Star, and what makes it resonate long after the Snow Queen has divulged her long-held secret, Curl up with this stunningly evocative tale about an intrepid young female explorer. As immersive as it is mesmerising, this is a novel that you won't ever forget, This . . . powerful drama is played out against a landscape that dominates [Penney's] imagination
Stef Penney grew up in Edinburgh. She has degrees in Philosophy and Theology and Film and TV, and was selected for the Carlton Television New Writers Scheme and has since written and directed two short films. She is the author of The Tenderness of Wolves and The Invisible Ones.

The cards are quite handy. They include the N5 and N4 Kanji;s one the front of the cards with some reading of the Kanji in hiragana on the side, On the back is the reading in English with a mnemonic picture to remember the Kanji. There are also some words included that shows the different readings of the kanji. The ring is fantastic and easy to use. It is also large enough to hold the first 100 with ease.
I just finished this book and wow I absolutely enjoyed everything about this book. The writer dives straight into it . I was having her pull on my heart strings a few pages in . She subtly just drops things and leaves you gasping . I appreciate how this book took us to a different realm the most, it's refreshing and I cannot wait to read the rest.
I have started to read the book and everything is so easy to understand and follow. I love that she has given recipes, a day-to-day eating plan guide and devotionals for those days. I am only starting the fast in June but I am really excited to get going with this, to try the recipes and to lean in closer to God.
Having read, “The Priest and the Gondolier” and “Theft from Delos,” Mervyn Nel has the ability to transfer the reader into another place and time. His novels are highly entertaining while at the same time being thought provoking. His characters are well developed, the plots are creative and his descriptions of the settings and backgrounds are a delight to read.
