Greater Manchester Police , once a ‘proud force’ and now, the object of ridicule despite the hard workers ‘at the pointed end’ as with the Metropolitan Police. Several forces throughout the U.K. are in Special Measures. Local newspapers of which there are approximately 1500 report police conduct as they see it, often with bias due to Police provision of court lists etc. Using Greater Manchester Police leadership as a single example of many forces. It is never reported until the occasional ranking officer is sacked. The existing rotten fabric of the force remains and continues to fester whatever the circumstances. This book, gives over fifty years of seven Chief Constables with some humour within this serious subject, the various levels of failure within a culture of corruption and lies adapted to suit the ‘leader’ of the moment. Context … is the keyword. This book examines the rot, in this one force exposed as an amazing culture of Senior Officers, badly trained, little practical experience and promoted in many cases due to cronyism. Enquiries into the shooting of unarmed Anthony Grainger and the Manchester Arena Bombing, highlighted perjury, blatant lies, training failures and horrendous examples of poor leadership. The Home Office, the ‘independent’, Inspectorate of Constabulary with a clear police biased culture, chooses to ignore the corruption and festering practices at every turn. Be in no doubt, there are many.

Proved to be ‘of a cavalier attitude’ to life, the author failed his entry to be an R.A.F. pilot. Armed with five GCE ‘O’Levels and no real community spirit he was urged on by his father to join Manchester City Police. His father, an ex-commando, having gone through five years of hell was a great believer in ‘bottle’. Our languishing hero was an easy target to prove he had plenty. He later enjoyed the years of fighting, preventing and detecting crime as the GMP motto still proclaims, by now, with total abandon and little accuracy. Identified as a naturaI he moved through the Plain Clothes Department, The Drug Squad, the CID city centre, then the CID Didsbury and finally the Regional Crime Squad before resigning, being totally disillusioned at the ‘wokeism’ which was affecting his black arts of criminal detection. Be in no doubt he is qualified, has credentials and experience to ably compare the charlatans posing as leaders of Greater Manchester Police with real success.
