Francolin Illustrated School Dictionary for Southern Africa

This dictionary has been developed for senior primary learners for whom English is an additional language and/or the language of learning. Comprehensively tested in 46 schools, it contains a combination of features for language learning in Southern African classrooms. In the introduction, the structure of the entries is fully explained and exercises are given for developing dictionary skills. There are almost 3500 entries for words that children at this level are likely to need at school and elsewhere. The definitions are written in a style that takes into account the known language abilities of the target users and all the words used in the definitions and example sentences have their own entries. Almost 5000 example sentences show how the words are used in context.
