      Braam van Wyk is an emeritus professor of Botany at the University of Pretoria and an authority on southern African tree classification with expertise in plant geography. The late Piet van Wyk was a biologist who worked for three decades as a researcher in Kruger National Park and authored several popular books on southern African trees. Ben-Erik van Wyk is a professor of Botany at the University of Johannesburg, specialising in systematic botany and indigenous plant use.
