      Verene A. Shepherd is a social historian and director of the Centre for Reparation Research, the University of the West Indies. Her many publications include Caribbean Slavery in the Atlantic World (co-edited with Hilary McD. Beckles) and Maharani's Misery: Narratives of a Passage from India to the Caribbean. Gabrielle D.L. Hemmings is a graduate student at the University of Birmingham, United Kingdom, and former research assistant at the Centre for Reparation Research, the University of the West Indies, Mona, Jamaica.
