Decapitado (Tres subversiones performativas)

Studies on Decapoda and Copepoda in Memory of Michael Türkay
This volume is dedicated to the memory of the eminent carcinologist Michael Türkay, of the Research Institute and Natural History Museum Senckenberg, Frankfurt am Main, Germany. It is a tribute to his outstanding international contribution to the study of decapod crustaceans. An extensive account of Michael’s life and achievements is presented, along with thirty-one scientific papers by 62 of his friends and colleagues from around the world. The book’s focus is almost entirely on decapod crustaceans, and covers a variety of topics, including taxonomy, systematics, zoogeography, morphology, palaeontology, genetics, general biology and ecology. Numerous new taxa are described from a number of marine and freshwater groups, including one new genus and 13 new species named in honour of Michael himself. The contents of this volume were originally published in 2017 in Crustaceana volume 90, issue 7-10.

Deconstruction in a Nutshell
Responding to questions put to him at a Roundtable held at Villanova University in 1994, Jacques Derrida leads the reader through an illuminating discussion of the central themes of deconstruction. Speaking in English and extemporaneously, Derrida takes up with unusual clarity and great eloquence such topics as the task of philosophy, the Greeks, justice, responsibility, the gift, the community, the distinction between the messianic and the concrete messianisms, and his interpretation of James Joyce. Derrida convincingly refutes the charges of relativism and nihilism that are often leveled at deconstruction by its critics and sets forth the profoundly affirmative and ethico-political thrust of his work. The “Roundtable” is marked by the unusual clarity of Derrida’s presentation and by the deep respect for the great works of the philosophical and literary tradition with which he characterizes his philosophical work. The Roundtable is annotated by John D. Caputo, the David R. Cook Professor of Philosophy at Villanova University, who has supplied cross references to Derrida’s writings where the reader may find further discussion on these topics. Professor Caputo has also supplied a commentary which elaborates the principal issues raised in the Roundtable. In all, this volume represents one of the most lucid, compact and reliable introductions to Derrida and deconstruction available in any language. An ideal volume for students approaching Derrida for the first time, Deconstruction in a Nutshell will prove instructive and illuminating as well for those already familiar with Derrida’s work.

Hippos (Sussita) of the Decapolis
Hippos of the Decapolis, perched on Mt. Sussita just east of the Sea of Galilee, has been excavated since 2000 by the Hippos Excavations Project on behalf of the Zinman Institute of Archaeology, University of Haifa. After twenty-five years of investigation, Hippos is one of the most systematically explored cities of the Decapolis and among the best-documented Classical sites in the southern Levant. This volume presents a detailed study of two centrally located monumental public buildings that reflect the peak of Hippos’s prosperity in the mid-first to third centuries CE: the civic basilica and the Southern Bathhouse. The strata below and above the remains of these Roman-period buildings reveal the city’s earlier Hellenistic and Early Roman phases and its later Byzantine and Early Islamic occupation up to the 749 CE earthquake, when the site was abandoned. The fully exposed civic basilica, constructed at the end of the first century CE and brought down by the 363 CE earthquake, is the smallest but the most thoroughly studied among the known basilicae of Roman Greater Syria and Arabia. The Southern Bathhouse, built in the second century CE, has over half of its plan revealed by excavations. Together with the full record of ceramic building materials and portable finds, it is one of the most thoroughly published examples of these marvels of Roman engineering in the Near East. This comprehensive publication makes a significant contribution to the study of Roman civic and bathing architecture, urbanism, and material culture, offering essential resources for Classical-period archaeologists, historians of the Roman East, and specialists in Greco-Roman studies.

Decameron
In the summer of 1348, as the Black Death ravages their city, ten young Florentines take refuge in the countryside...Taken from the Greek, meaning 'ten-day event', Boccaccio's Decameron sees his characters amuse themselves by each telling a story a day, for the ten days of their confinement - a hundred stories of love and adventure, life and death, and surprising twists of fate. Less preoccupied with abstract concepts of morality or religion than earthly values, the tales range from the bawdy Peronella, hiding her lover in a tub, to Ser Cepperallo, who, despite his unholy effrontery, becomes a Saint. The result is a towering monument of European literature and a masterpiece of imaginative narrative that has inspired writers from Chaucer to Shakespeare . Translated with an introduction by G.H. McWilliam'McWilliam's finest work, his translation of Boccaccio's Decameron remains one of the most successful and lauded books in the series'The Times
