Born in Soweto, Bonnie Henna was discovered at a bus stop at the age of 13, on her way home from school, by an agent who soon got her a job on the television series Viva Families. She is an internationally renowned actress with film credentials that most South Africans can only dream of. She has been on a wide range of TV shows from presenting to acting and everything else in between. Bonnie was a lead actress on Backstage and has more recently been on Rhythm City. In 2011 she made it to the top three of Survivor Maldives on SABC 3. She has three Hollywood movies under her belt: Invictus, Catch A Fire and Drum. However, back home Bonnie has skeletons in her closet that need unpacking. After she is diagnosed with clinical depression, she takes her new found freedom to finally tackle past hurts, fears and darkness. Eyebags and Dimples is Bonnie’s shockingly naked account of how her depression almost robbed her of her shine and how she continues to fight this darkness. She opens up about her failed Hollywood stint and how she and her husband survived on next to nothing while they were there. With new information on hand, Bonnie is able to forgive her mother. It wasn’t that she hated Bonnie or got joy from abusing her; she was depressed and didn’t have an outlet.
